Robert Christy,
D.M.D.
Dr. Christy joined Kirkwood Dental Associates in 2005 after graduating from the University of Pennsylvania School of Dental Medicine in 2004 and completing his dental residency at Christiana Care. As a resident he received additional training in oral surgery, anesthesiology and dental implant restoration. Dr. Christy is also trained and certified in invisilign orthodontics, implant placement and porcelain veneers. He is currently on the teaching staff at Christiana Care and Polytech High School, and is contracted by the military to provide annual examinations and necessary treatment to service men and women in the Army Reserve and National Guard. Additionally he is a member of the American Dental Association, the Delaware Dental Society and the Academy of General Dentistry. His continuing education is focused on cosmetic and implant dentistry and he had performed many complex procedures combining Invisilign, porcelain veneers and implants to dramatically improve the esthetic appearance of patents smiles.
Eric S. Esbitt,
D.M.D.
Dr. Esbitt graduated from the University of Virginia in 1983 with a B.A. in Chemistry.
He graduated from the University of Pennsylvania School of Dental Medicine
in 1988. In his fourth year, he completed a six-week internship at the
Medical College of Pennsylvania and Chester Crozier Hospitals in hospital
dentistry and oral surgery.
In 1989, Dr. Esbitt completed a one-year general practice residency in Dentistry
at the Medical Center of Delaware. Rotations included anesthesiology, oral
surgery, pediatrics, and oral medicine.
Dr. Esbitt joined Kirkwood Dental Associates in July of 1989. He has continued his
educational endeavors by taking over forty hours of continuing education
classes each year. His professional affiliations include the American Dental
Association and the Delaware State
Dental Society. He truly
enjoys his work and reads much dental literature in his spare time.

Arthur L. Young,
D.D.S. Upon completion of his B.S. in Biology at the University of
Delaware in 1978, Dr. Young began his dental training at Northwestern
University Dental School in Chicago. Dr. Young completed a general practice
residency at the Medical Center of Delaware in 1983. He joined Kirkwood
Dental in 1985 and was instrumental in the opening of our Glasgow Location.
Dr. Young is a member of the American Dental Association and the Delaware
State Dental Society.
David C. Ehrenfeld, D.D.S
Graduating from Temple Dental School in 1971, Dr. Ehrenfeld spent the next two years as an officer
in the Army at Fort Huachuca in Arizona. There he received specialty training in crown, bridge, and
periodontics.
Dr. Ehrenfeld joined Kirkwood Dental in 1973 and has continued his
education efforts taking many courses in an unending desire to stay on
the cutting edge of modern dentistry.
In 1980, Dr. Ehrenfeld became involved with the holistic approach to TMJ
(see below) and craniofacial pain. Joining the W.G. Sutherland Dental
Craniomandibular Study Club, he traveled to Illinois every four months
to meet with like-minded dentists. There he and his colleagues studied
such diverse topics as dental homeopathy, acupuncture, cranial
osteopathy and nutrition and how they relate to the dental and TMJ
problem.
Dr. Ehrenfeld continues his efforts to contribute to the advancement of
the dental field through his memberships in many organizations including
the American Dental Association, the
Delaware State Dental Society, the Philadelphia County Dental Society,
the Northeast Craniomandibular Society and the Pennsylvania
Craniomandibular Society. Additionally, Dr. Ehrenfeld is on the staff of
the Christiana Care Health System
and spends one afternoon a month teaching dental residents at the
Wilmington Division of the Medical Center of Delaware.
He has completed all the continums at the L.D. Pankey Institute for Dental Education in Key Biscayne, Florida. The Pankey Institute is the leading continuing education center for dentists in the country.
Nicholas J. Punturieri, D.M.D. Dr. Punturieri attended the University Center at
Binghamton, in Binghamton, New York, where he earned a B.A. degree in
Biology. While attending Binghamton, he worked part-time in the Cell Biology
and Zoology laboratories while also acting as a teaching assistant in
Microbiology. He graduated from the University of Pennsylvania School of
Dental Medicine in 1988. He then completed a General Practice residency at
the Veteran's Hospital in Albany, New York, which included rotations in Oral
Surgery and Anesthesiology.
Dr.
Punturieri joined Kirkwood
Dental in 1992 and is currently a member of the American Dental Association,
the Delaware State Dental Society, the Philadelphia County Dental Society,
and the Greater Wilmington Dental Study Club. Dr.
Punturieri attends
continuing education courses sponsored by each organization, to keep abreast
of the latest advances in dentistry.
