Children's Dentistry

We Care About Your Kids!

Dr. Esbitt and his team will put your children at ease to enjoy their dental visits. He uses the latest techniques in children’s dentistry and is always thoughtful and caring in every type of treatment. Equally as important, he teaches children of all ages how to maintain healthy teeth and gums. Our team enjoys their visits as well, as we watch them grow and change year after year.

No More Dental Fears – Really!

We strive to have this generation and future generations of our young patients grow up without any fears of dental treatments. As our happy parents have told us, we are accomplishing just that! No matter if you have an active five-year-old or a scared nine-year-old, your kids will feel relaxed and happy to visit.

Your Child’s Dentist Is Important – Just Like Their Pediatrician

Children’s teeth are more prone to cavities at their young age for certain reasons. They may not brush their teeth well on their own. They tend to eat throughout the day, which continually exposes their teeth to the acid made from food. These two combined may cause more cavities.

Teeth need to be cleaned properly after eating, as continual exposure to acid from juice and food will speed up the development of cavities. An application of a fluoride vanish will mineralize teeth and, combined with good hygiene habits instilled with parental guidance, greatly reduce the chances of cavities.

An Easy Way to Prevent a Child’s Tooth Decay

Sometimes the contours and grooves of teeth are missed when brushing or are not brushed as well as they need to be. Bacteria that are not cleaned off of teeth can lead to plaque formation and eventual decay. Any amount of decay is permanent damage to the tooth structure and will require repair with either a filling or crown. With modern dental technology, there is a way to keep this from happening. The use of dental sealants is a preventive technique that works!

This totally painless process begins with cleaning and sterilizing of the teeth. A thin coat of the varnish is then applied to each tooth. It is transparent and not noticeable. To bond the varnish to the tooth, a curing light is used. The entire procedure takes only a few minutes and no shots are given. The entire tooth structure remains intact and, together with good oral hygiene, helps to preserve a child’s or adolescent’s teeth for a lifetime.
